HENDERSON, Ky. (AP) -- A former assistant soccer coach at Henderson County High School has been sentenced to seven years in prison for manslaughter for the shooting death of his wife.
?
?? The Gleaner reported (http://bit.ly/13g6tcq ) that 37-year-old Steven M. Cotter expressed remorse Monday at what he called the "horrible accident" that led to the death of his wife, Michelle, on May 15, 2012.
?
?? Cotter entered an Alford plea in April to second-degree manslaughter. The Alford plea means Cotter acknowledges there's enough evidence to convict him, but that he doesn't admit guilt.
?
?? Henderson Circuit Judge Karen Wilson told Cotter that probation would "unduly depreciate" the seriousness of the crime.
?
?? Wilson remanded him to Henderson County Detention Center to be held until he is placed in a Kentucky Department of Corrections prison.
